Our path to carbon neutrality

The PRETTL group intends to effectively contribute to a world worth living in and to help secure the livelihoods of future generations. To this end, it systematically drives forward its sustainability goals with vigor.

For this reason, a voluntary commitment to climate protection was launched in 2020 with the PRETTL GoZero initiative. Its concept was developed in cooperation with BOSCH Climate Solutions. PRETTL GoZero describes the path of the group of companies to climate neutrality in the four areas of energy efficiency, renewable energies, green electricity and offset measures.

1 Increasing energy efficiencies

2 Use of renewable energies

3 Expand the purchase of green electricity

4 Offset unavoidable carbon emissions with compensation measures

Where do OUR carbon-neutrality goals come from?

At the end of 2015, 195 countries agreed at the World Climate Conference in Paris to limit average global warming to well below 2°C by the end of the century compared to pre-industrial times. When categorizing the carbon2 footprint, the classification of emissions into three so-called scopes according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol is particularly relevant.

The 4 goals ofPRETTL GoZero result from the 3 Scopes of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol

SCOPE 1

All direct emissions, i.e. those generated by combustion in our own facilities.

  • Direct emissions from combustion processes of stationary facilities
  • Direct emissions from combustion processes of mobile facilities
  • Direct emissions of volatile gases
  • Direct emissions from processes

SCOPE 2

All emissions associated with purchased energy.

  • Indirect emissions from purchased electricity
  • Indirect emissions from distributed heating/cooling
  • Indirect emissions from purchased steam

SCOPE 3

All indirect greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Purchased goods and services
  • Production equipment capital goods
  • Fuel and energy emissions
  • Upstream transport and distribution
  • Waste generation in the company
  • Business travel and commuting of employees
  • Leased assets of the upstream and downstream value chain
  • Downstream transport and distribution
  • Further processing of purchased products
  • Use and disposal of products sold
  • Franchise operations and investments

Our sustainability and climate protection goals

The course for sustainable and environmentally friendly production has already been set together with Bosch Climate Solutions 2019.

With appropriate measures, we are optimizing our sites to become.

1 Increasing energy efficiencies

  • Introduction of a shutdown and start-up concept for machine technology
  • Lighting optimization (e.g. LED, presence detectors, segmentation)
  • Leakage measurement for compressed air infrastructure

2 Use of renewable energies

  • Concept for the use of roof areas for photovoltaic systems

3 Expand the purchase of green electricity

  • All production sites purchase green electricity

4 Offset unavoidable carbon emissions with compensation measures

  • Create green oases for employees
  • Greening of our company premises
  • Participation in external carbon offset projects
  • Transition of the vehicle fleet to e-mobility
